What I love about this episode is that it's shown throughout that Thorfinn is still a scared kid even if he puts on this badass mask. This can be seen when he covers his face when seeing the dog, and then immediately changes his expression to a scowl when the mother and daughter come inside. It's only by the very end of the episode that he changes, letting go of his emotions. There's a visual difference between how he looks then and how he looks before it. Great touch

Askeladd was serious about offering that place. You can also see it in how Bjorn reacted: Bjorn was furious, because he knows Askeladd the best. Bjorn is the right hand man, he understands him as much as it´s posibble with someone like Askeladd. And he understood that he was serious and Bjorn couldn´t accept that.
